A recent survey conducted by LinkedIn and Cogent Research
revealed that almost 90% of the elite class are very active in Social media and
they are highly influenced by them. The mass
affluent consumers (as this rich class with an asset of $100K to $1M as liquid
cash is called in marketing terminology) take many important decisions
depending on various suggestions, comments and reports coming in such media. This
revelation underlines the importance of internet marketing once again.
The profession of marketing has undergone several changes in
its structure and shape. The process of evolution is now reached in internet
marketing. The evolution may continue further, but it is necessary to be in
tune with the prevailing trends to be successful in business. That is the
reason for many giants such as Mazda, Coca-Cola etc to enter into this area.
When the internet marketing evolved as a marketing
technique, very few takers were there for it. In the initial stages, when
internet marketing was limited to sending emails to people, it seemed to be
ineffective. More than that, many corporate giants believe this strategy of
sending mails to individual is something that may affect the image they created
in the market. They feared that such an attempt will show them in a poor light.
On those days, the companies were competing with each other in spending more
money on television advertisements and on hoardings. They were spending more
money on creating brand awareness. In such a world of money and glamour,
internet marketing which did not had a glamorous appearance or richness got
ignored by the big players. However, the internet marketing has gone through a
phase of metamorphosis and grown to the present state where it enjoys a wide
acceptability.
The new revelation of the survey will make the internet
marketing more energetic. Experts in this area are busy with knitting new
strategies to capture the mass affluent consumers. Finance, fashion, cosmetics,
electronic Industries are aiming to this range of customers and planning big
changes in their strategies in internet marketing.
This will bring much more positive changes in internet
marketing in the near future.
